TOPINABEE, Mich. -- Cheboygan County Drain Commissioner Dennis Lennox has received the National Rifle Association’s highest rating in the final days of his campaign for State House.

Lennox, a Republican from Topinabee, received the AQ rating from the NRA because he is a "solid pro-gun/pro-hunting candidate who is an advocate for the right to keep and bear arms."

VANDERBILT, Mich. — Republican candidate for State House Dennis Lennox, the drain commissioner of Cheboygan County, received an endorsement from Our Home Town News, the weekly newspaper covering Vanderbilt and surrounding areas.

The endorsement of Lennox, who is seeking the 105th District seat of term-limited Rep. Kevin Elsenheimer (R-Bellaire), was published in the July 28 edition. It reads:

Hundreds of student groups on public university campuses across Michigan will be expelled, overrun by opponents or forced to operate off-campus under a federal Supreme Court ruling handed down this week.

In Christian Legal Society v. Martinez, the court wrongly ruled that a Jewish group can no longer deny membership to Nazi or Islamofascist students. Under the new ruling, belief-based membership requirements are illegal.

This is absurd. And I know first hand.

I applaud the decision of the Carp Lake Township Board of Trustees to create a lake improvement board to address the environmental challenges facing Paradise Lake.
